CELEBRATE. REMEMBER. FIGHT BACK

Last weekend I attended the Relay for Life Rally in Lovell. My brother Jim and I, along with Mark, my niece's fiance, are pictured here at the beginning of the survivor's lap. This is the 3rd time I have attended a rally and it is still a moving experience to see people of all ages, in the purple shirts, celebrating the fact that they have survived this horrible disease. So many families have been affected by cancer, including my own, and this event is a way to honor those who didn't make it and celebrate those who did. It is also a way to fight back by raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Art Show

My kids accuse me of being "click" happy with my mouse and I guess they're right. I posted the pictures without the narrative. I might get the hang of this blogging thing sometime. Anyway, Ken and I were in Loveland, Colorado last weekend for the largest sculpture show in North America.

This is the 13th year Ken has done this show and it was his worst one yet, maybe it was the economy or the high price of gas, but the attendance was way down and we didn't even make expenses.

The first few years at this show we were overwhelmed and in awe of the wonderful bronzes, woodcarving, metal work, etc. Now we don't even make it to all the tents to see everything. It is overwhelming. There are over 250 artists showing at this show and there is another show across the street with around 200 artists. A lot of competition. I didn't get as many pictures as I should have because my camera battery died. Either I forget my camera or forget to use it or the battery dies. Never fails!

The picture of the lake with the ducks is where I escape when I can't take any more art talk.
Loveland is one of my favorite places to visit and we did get out to have some great meals and I, of course, got in some shopping.

I'm off to Lovell tomorrow to participate in the relay for life. The battery for the camera is charging and I'll be sure to get some pictures. If I remember to take the camera : )

What the hell am I doing?

My first posting and I don't have a thing to say! Is this a good idea to start a blog? I already spend way too much time on the computer, but my good friend Joan has so much fun with her blog, I decided to give it a try.

I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, mother of four grown children, I have eleven grandkids and a little boy due in Ocotober. Only two years until Ken and I retire! I hate to wish two years of my life to speed by, but we have so many plans for retirement and I am ready to get started. We love to cruise and plan to see some of the world from the deck of a cruise ship. Our first big trip after retirement will be in our travel trailer, we plan on traveling across the United States and to see as much of our big, beautiful country as possible. If I keep this blog going, I'll take you all with me.
